Krav Maga as Self Defense

Anyone looking to defend themselves must understand the two most important elements of self defense.

1. Confidence

This does not mean you should not be careful where you walk to. Never be over-confident or think that your opponent will be easily disabled. Instead, strike hard, strike fast, and get to a safe place.

2. Awareness

Be aware of your surroundings. Someone walking to close behind you, make sure you make him aware that you know he is there.

It is clear, by the mere fact that you have found our websites, that you are interested in learning self defense. We urge you to contact Krav Maga Self Defense Instructor Benjamin Halcewicz at (858) 349-8795 to schedule your first visit!

New students are always welcome.

Self Defense Tips for All

We have no doubt that you are aware of what is going on in the news. With so many attacks on women, it is clear that everyone needs to become vigilant in their surroundings. If you have not yet taken a self defense program, we invite you to come see our classes completely FREE!

We also know that a new self defense training program would only take you away from your busy schedule. That is why we offer classes 7 times a week; including two classes during the lunch hour on Tuesdays and Thursdays!

If cannot come in today, we still urge you to be prepared with these easy-to-follow tips in self defense:

1. Be confident.

When you walk to and from your car, be confident by knowing your surroundings. Avoid being an easy target.

2. Be alert.

Always be prepared for the unexpected. If you find yourself distracted, stop and get back to being safe; especially in an unfamiliar territory. It is best to put the smartphone down, stop texting, and get to your destination as soon as possible.

3. Be accompanied.

If you are going to an unfamiliar area, it is best to find a friend to come along for the ride. If you are out shopping by yourself, most retail establishments and supermarkets will offer you an escort to your car. Take advantage of the offer and avoid walking alone.

4. Learn Self Defense.

You will not become an expert overnight, but you will quickly be more confident in being to defend yourself against a would-be attacker.

5. Carry Pepper Spray.

This can be very effective and will allow you to run away from the attacker. A few seconds can make all the difference in establishing a safe distance.

6. Practice to make noise.

What would you do if attacked? Would you really go kicking and screaming? Be sure to test the batteries on that panic button on your carkeys.

7. Don't be shy.

If you are attacked, it is not time to be timid. Kick your assailant, scratch his eyes, and run!

8. Resist.

Your assailant expects you to be frightened. He least expects you to fight back. Let him feel it and hit him where it hurts! It's OK to let him have it!

9. Be fit.

We are not all built the same, but be sure you are able to run to establish that safe distance.

10. Find a weapon.

What can you use as a weapon? Go through the purse and your car and be sure you have something to use as a weapon. Anything will do. An umbrella, a pen, keys, hairspray (yes some still carry a tiny can); all these items can be used as a weapon. Which one will you try first?

Don't be afraid any more, call (858) 349-8795 and schedule a class at your convenience. Self defense and Krav Maga instructor will be able to guide you through the first steps!
